Re-occuring Events: First three Sundays (June 6, 13, 20) - Community Cycles Rolling Bike Clinics Rolling Bike Clinics (RBCs) are bicycle powered mobile bike shops designed to fix broken bikes in low and medium income neighborhoods in Boulder. Volunteer bike mechanics load large capacity bike trailers with all the tools and parts needed for a mobile bike shop. Then they ride to the neighborhood, set up shop and fix bikes for a day. For the Walk & Bike Month RBSs in June, there will also be Bike Rodeos for kids offered at each RBC. This year's RBCs will be held in neighborhood associations around the new Elmer's 2 mile path connection (in the area between 34th St. and Folsom and Valmont and Kalmia). See Community Cycles for schedule. June 2nd Full Cycle Maintenance Class 7:30pm at the Pearl & 18th Streets location. Learn basic to intermediate bike maintenance from the pros at Full Cycle. This is a fun and informative class. Please sign up by calling or stopping in the shop. These classes fill up quickly! June 8th Boulder Bike Chix Mountain Bike Skills Clinic 5:30 - 7pm CU Research Park at Foothills & Arapahoe If you're interested in learning some new mountain bike skills or just want to improve on what you know, come join the Boulder Chix women's bike team in June at CU Research Park. Drawing for prizes. All ages and abilities are encouraged to join. June 10th Intercambio Bike Ride and Safety Demo 5:30pm Boulder High School, Info: (303) 996-0275 Join Intercambio in their mission to build bridges of understanding across cultures, increase opportunities and independence for all immigrants, and create a stronger, more integrated Boulder County. This ride will start and end at Boulder High and will include a safety talk at the start. Cyclists of all skills and ages welcome. Pedaling to Work - What's Stopping You? 7pm at REI, Boulder Overcome your bike commuting barriers and excuses with the creator of Riding FUNdamentals and Ready to PedalDVDs Ray Keener. He will cover all the details you’ll need to leave your car behind for the freedom and comfort of two wheels. Ray will cover topics on the gear you’ll need, finding good routes, options for carrying your things, dealing with sweat, safety concerns and tips, and more. Join us to get inspired about transitioning into the exciting world of bike commuting! June 13th Free Day at Indoor Cycling 9am - Noon, open to the first 35 participants. 3550 Frontier Ave. Give the new velodrome a try at Boulder Indoor Cycling. The first 35 participants will get a free lesson and use of a track bike. You must bring your own helmet. The indoor mountain bike course will also be open to try out. June 18th Boulder Bike Bash at The Peloton 2010 4 - 7pm Peloton Interior Courtyard and Community Center, 1685 38th St. Join the Peloton neighbors for a bike-themed happy hour at their beautiful new community center. $2 beers, food by local restaurants, information about bike rides, and more. June 19th Vintage Bike Swap 6am - 2pm at Boulder High School, 13th & Arapahoe. Local vendors with plenty of new and used bike treasures. Vendors must register in advance. Lee Likes Bikes Clinic Noon - 3pm at CU Research Park. $50 per person (special Boulder Bike Month price) Learn the core skills to ride you bike in any terrain with greater safety, confidence and fun. Events for all ages and abilities, starting out with a bagel breakfast at 9:30 followed by a beginner's bike tour or Boulder. Get a free Y pass for the day and take classes, use the machines, swim in the pool or enjoy the hot tub. At 2pm there will be a Bar-B-Que on the patio! June 23rd Fit, Position, Technique: Three Steps to Better Biking 7pm at REI, Boulder Learn to love being on your bike by fine tuning the three most important and effective factors for improving your cycling. Starting with a correctly fit bike can prevent injuries and ensure max comfort level. Technique and slight changes to your position on your bike can make a huge difference in power and efficiency.
