June 2: National Trails Day       
8 a.m. 6/2/12 – 5 p.m. 6/3/12
In 2012, volunteers will improve and repair the old trail system in the West Magnolia area, southwest of Nederland. In celebration of National Trails Day, will construct 575 feet of new trail, repair and improve around 300 feet of existing trail, close and re-vegetate  450 feet of the old trail alignment, and clean up an area that has significant trash and has been a dumping area for old tree stumps. Restoration of the old trail will involve seeding, transplanting, mulching and slashing. Trail work will involve some specialized skills such as heavy rock-work and causeway construction. Volunteers will camp in a beautiful location. This is a two day project and we will be camping overnight in the West Mag area, so bring your tents and your bikes and be the first to ride the new singletrack.

Fleet Feet - Nordic Walking Class

The Bike Rodeo will teach young children rules of the road and safe bike handling prior to the B360 ride.

B-360 - Fifteenth Annual Circle Boulder by Bicycle

Rain or shine, the City of Boulder Utilities Division’s Greenways Program will host its 15th Annual Circle Boulder by Bicycle, B-360 or B-180 self-guided ride.  This non-competitive ride follows the city’s bikeways beginning and ending at Scott Carpenter Park, 30th Street and Arapahoe Avenue, and is open to all ages.

Wildflowers of Goshawk Ridge

The Goshawk Ridge trail winds through one of the most beautiful and pristine parts of OSMP. Its pine forests and lush, wet meadows are thick with wildflowers and a haven for wildlife. Explore this new trail with naturalist Dave Sutherland. Due to sensitivity of the habitat, space is limited to 15. GO Boulder's popular walking program for City employees, is open to the public during Walk & Bike Month. Walks combine fitness, networking, and transportation option awareness. All walks begin at the shuffleboard courts behind the New Britain Building, 1101 Arapahoe Ave.  This is near the pedestrian bridge over Boulder Creek, just west of Broadway. Each walk lasts between 30 and 40 minutes. You can always turn around sooner to accommodate your schedule. All walks subject to change depending upon weather conditions.

June 7: Betasso Canyon Trail
5 - 8 p.m.
This beginner friendly, no drop ride heads up the Canyon to the Betasso Canyon Loop Trail. Entry level riders will meet at the Betasso trail head, more experienced riders will depart from the Justice Center on Canyon to ride up the connector trail. If you plan to ride the connector trail, be aware the trail is steep/loose in some sections. This section of trail is considered intermediate/advanced, although the Betasso loop at the top is a beginner/intermediate trail. Dialing a Derailleur

Rolling Bike Clinics are bicycle powered mobile bike shops designed to fix broken bikes in low income neighborhoods in Boulder. Volunteer bike mechanics load our large capacity bike trailers with all the tools and parts needed for a mobile bike shop. We then ride to a neighborhood, set up shop and fix bikes for a day. June 12: W's Hands-On Fix a Flat
Full Cycle – 1795 Pearl Street; 6-7:30 p.m.
Bring in your own bike, seat bag, tube, patch kit, inflation (if you plan to use CO2 you should bring an extra, if you plan to use a hand pump you should bring the hand pump you will be using) and tire levers.  We will have a floor pump so you can use that too for saving time.  You will remove and "fix" your front wheel and learn how to remove your rear wheel. Plan on at least 1 hour for this clinic. All attendees will receive 10% off flat fixing items purchased at the Clinic. FREE to Venus Bike Club members and $10.00 for non members. Fun with Fixies Wheel Building Class

Standard Bike Repair is hosting a class for you to build your own fixie wheel.  Choose your own color of flip-flop hubs and rim.  We will teach you how to lace, tension, and true your wheel, and you get to keep it when you're done!  This class is limited to 2-5 students and includes instruction and materials.  Experience truing wheels and adjusting hubs is preferred but not necessary. Continuing the tradition that started with National Trail Days (NTD) BMA and Boulder County Parks and Open Space (BCPOS) are partnering up to make sure our local singletrack at Heil Ranch is well maintained.
We will be working on an area that has limited visibility and north facing slopes and trying to improve the trail to improve user sight paths and drainage. Shuttles will be provided to the work site or feel free to bring your bike and ride to the work site. June 21: Boulder B-cycle Summer Solstice Ride
5:32 am – 8:32 pm
Celebrate the longest day of 2012 by riding to every Boulder B-cycle station! Those who ride the entire system on June 21st will be eligible to win prizes, with a special drawing for riders who reach each station in both the Denver and Boulder systems. Depending on your route this accomplishment may take 1.5-3 hours, although most of the riding is relatively flat. Please notify Boulder B-cycle by the end of June 21st if you intend to ride to each station by writing to B-cycle and stay tuned to Boulder B-cycle for updates during Walk and Bike Month!

Visit “Park(ing) Spaces” all over town where businesses adopt a parking space and convert it into a “park” for one day by setting up grass, flowers, trees, chairs, etc in the parking spot.

Take a journey to May's Point exploring "special places."  We will go on an adventure hunt using an explorer's guide filled with fun activities!  Meet Debora Martin, volunteer naturalist at the Flagstaff Nature Center on the summit of Flagstaff Mountain, for our hiking journey.   Ages 6 and up, materials provided. Bats Over Boulder!
7-10 p.m.

Bats swirling overhead create the backdrop for an exploration of bat ecology in the foothills of Boulder.  Join Ranger Naturalist Burton Stoner on a moderate night hike to Bear Pool to experience these amazing mammals.  Be prepared for night hiking.
