Upcoming Events at Community Cycles

April 19, 10 a.m.-4 p.m. - San Juan del Centro Bike Community Day
Community Cycles' volunteers load up their bike trailers and roll over to San Juan del Centro on 34th St for a Bike Community Day. Assisted by graduates of the after school EAB program at the Family Learning Center, we'll set up our bike stands and tools near the playground. We'll tune up as many bikes as we can for free between 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Participants can practice bike safety at our bike safety rodeo then go for a short community ride on newly tuned bikes.

Please consider signing up as a volunteer for this event.

April 23, 3-5 p.m. - Bear Creek Elementary Extravaganza Bike Swap
Community Cycles supports Bear Creek Extravaganza Bike Swap. CC will seed the bike swap with a dozen or so medium sized refurbished bikes; other bikes will come from a community-wide bike collection drive. CC volunteer mechanics will tune up donations as they come in and prepare them for children who have outgrown their current bikes or kids who do not have a bike, but would like to have one.

April 3, 5-8 p.m. - Thursday Night Youth Earn-A-Bike
As a new month begins, so does a new Thursday Youth Earn-A-Bike class. Youth EAB, consists of 4 structured sessions, begins the first Thursday of each month and gives students, aged 10-15, basic understanding of bike maintenance, safe riding skills and a bike of their own to keep.

In order to give participants personalized lessons, we keep our class size small and it fills up quickly, so we require registration in advance. Although prior bicycle mechanical skills are not necessary, students should be comfortable riding a two wheeled bike. Community Cycles provides all tools, working bikes and necessary materials. Youths can, however, work on their own bikes and donate the bike they build to a local charity.

Sign up for the April class online here.
