The Boulder Police Department recently donated 65 bicycles to Community Cycles, a nonprofit bicycle advocacy organization. In an effort to support Community Cycles' mission to promote bicycles as a healthy, sustainable and viable method of transportation, the Boulder Police Department collects bicycles that have been abandoned or forgotten about and hands them over to Community Cycles three to four times a year. Community Cycles uses these bikes in some of its programs, including the Earn-A-Bike program, in which youth learn how to refurbish and maintain a bike, ultimately getting to keep it as their own.
