After School Program at the Family Learning Center
Community Cycles in conjunction with the Family Learning Center at San Juan del Centro conducts after school bike classes. Each class meets on Wednesdays for 8 weeks and teaches participants the rules of the road, map reading and bike maintenance. Each class is a combination of bike riding and maintenance. When finished students pick bikes to keep as their own.

One of the main reasons a bicycle isn't ridden is it has a flat. Because of this we make sure each student has several opportunities to fix a flat during the class. In fact at the end of the 4th class students are sent home with a small toolbox and a tire pump. Their homework for that week is to find a flat tire or two in their neighborhood and fix them.
