SUMMARY:Speaker Series – Pedaling Progress: Cycling Advocacy Now in Boulder
DESCRIPTION:Join Mirrycle and Community Cycles this summer for the Leslie Bohm Speaker Series, with the spotlight on local cycling-world dynamos. Each evening will feature a presentation and an opportunity to mingle and have a conversation with our experts over snacks and beverages. Bring your friends and family to these FREE events!\nAugust 19th: Pedaling Progress: Cycling Advocacy Now in Boulder with Natalie Stiffler, Jordan Trout, John Simmerman and moderator Lynn Guissinger.\nThey will discuss progress, politics, policy and possibilities. Their experience and enthusiasm guarantees an inspiring conversation as we work together for more sustainable and equitable mobility.\nNatalie Stiffler is director of Transportation & Mobility for the City of Boulder. Boulder’s vision is to create a safe, accessible and sustainable multimodal transportation system that connects people with each other and where they want to go. It is also a Vision Zero city, joining other cities worldwide in working to eliminate all injuries and fatalities caused by traffic crashes through safe street design.\nJordan Trout is the Director of Marketing for Boulder-based PeopleForBikes, the advocacy and trade organization promoting more people on bikes more often. Jordan sees the bike as a simple part of a solution to very complex problems and wanted to help make biking better across the country. She got her start biking thanks to a need to commute to downtown Denver as painlessly as possible.\nJohn Simmerman is a veteran public health promotion professional with over thirty-four years of experience. Through Active Towns, he helps communities create a “Culture of Activity” through safer, more inviting “All Ages & Abilities” built environment design concepts and evidence-based behavior change initiatives that engage and reconnect communities.\nLynn Guissinger chairs the RTD Board of Directors, and represents most of the northwestern portion of the RTD area. Along with Leslie Bohm, her business, Catalyst Communication, provides marketing services in the bicycle and outdoor industries, and partners with city transportation departments around the country to promote their transit, biking and walking options.\nCoalition for Cyclists will co-host with Community Cycles for this Speaker Series – Pedaling Progress: Cycling Advocacy Now in Boulder.\nBrought to you by:\n\nOur special thanks to Mirrycle Corporation for sponsoring this event. Mirrycle is a Boulder company which has supplied mirrors and bells to the bicycle industry for over 40 years.\n
