Kids Holiday Bike Giveaway

December 16th, 2017 marks the 13th annual Kids Holiday Bike Giveaway by Community Cycles, a Boulder non-profit organization committed to making access to bicycles equitable throughout the Boulder community. This is our longest running event – since 2006!

It is our most ambitious year yet, with a goal of 500 bikes given away to low income kids and families. Why do we do this? We think every child in our community should have a bicycle. For the freedom and doors of opportunity it opens, the healthy outdoor exercise, and for the joy of riding a bicycle.

Our Bike Giveaway is a community event from beginning to end. Throughout the year, Community Cycles takes in hundreds of kids’ bikes from community donations. During the fall season, volunteer mechanics donate their time preparing bikes for the December event. A hundred volunteers and staff come together on the day of the event to distribute 500+ bikes.

In addition to receiving a bike, every child will receive a fitted bike helmet and a bike light. We couldn’t do this without donations, volunteers in our community and our event sponsors: Boulder Community Health, Boulder Neurosurgical and Spine Associates, Capital One, West Baseline Investors, LLC, Walnut Cafe, and the Kirk “Rocky” Derichsweiler Foundation!
