Winter Walk and Bike Week has arrived!

Check out all the events this week and how to prepare for winter walking and biking! Events run through Sunday, Feb. 11, with Bike to Work Day celebrations on Friday, Feb. 9.  The week starts with a walk and ride with community leaders!

Monday: Kick-off Walk and Ride

Join community leaders and fellow walk and bike commuters as we celebrate the start of Winter Walk and Bike Week with a walk and ride to the Hyatt Hotel at Boulder Junction for a free breakfast. 

Date & Time: Monday, Feb. 5 from 7:45 to 9 a.m.  
Location: west side of Municipal Building (1777 W. Broadway)

Tuesday: E-bike Demo & Open House

Always wondered what it’s like to ride on an e-bike? Come try one out during the e-bike demo organized by Boulder County and local vendors, and let us know what you think about e-bikes in and around Boulder during the open house.

Date & Time: Tuesday, Feb. 6 from 4 – 5 p.m.

Date & Time: Tuesday, Feb. 6, from 5 to 6:30 p.m.
Location: Boulder County Recycling (1901 63rd Street, Boulder)

Wednesday: Heads Up Safety Education Outreach

City and CU Boulder staff will visit several locations on campus to speak with residents and students about walk and bike safety in the city and on campus. 
Learn all about this campaign and how to make our crosswalks safer on our website.
Date & Time: Wednesday, Feb. 7, from 3:30 to 5:30 p.m.

Thursday: Morning Winter Walk 360

Join Darcy Kitching from Boulder Walks for segment one of Walk 360, a 5.5 mile walk from Four Mile Creek Trailhead to Valmont Bike Park.

Thursday: Winter Bike Commuting 101

Discover just how far your bike will take you. Prepare yourself for Winter Bike to Work Day and winter bike riding with this workshop.
This FREE workshop will teach you the essentials of commuting by bicycle in the winter. How to choose a route, what to carry, and everything you need to know for safe and warm winter bike commuting. 
Date & Time: Thursday, Feb. 8, from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m.

Friday: Winter Bike to Work Day – Breakfast Stations

Join thousands of other cyclists in Boulder as we compete with cities around the world to get the most community members to bike to work on Friday, Feb. 9! Like previous years there will be free breakfast stations throughout Boulder and Boulder County.
Commit to ride at winterbiketoworkday.org*
Date & Time: Friday, Feb. 9, from 7 to 9 a.m.
Location: various locations around town (see map)
* Signing up is a pledge to try bike commuting this winter. Should we have inclement weather or unsafe conditions on Feb. 9, it’s OK to ride another day.

Friday: Winter Bike to Work Day – Reception

Join in on refreshments, fun and cool door prizes as we celebrate Winter Bike to Work Day!
Date & Time: Friday, Feb. 9, from 5 to 7 p.m.

Saturday: Light Up the Night: Walk and Bike Ride

This fun family event entails a short 1-mile walk and bike ride from Civic Area Park to Eben G. Fine Park on the newly renovated multi-use paths, where we’ll enjoy warm drinks and treats. We will then walk and ride back to where we began!
Pre-walk and ride speeches from Suzanne Jones (Mayor of Boulder), Krista Nordback (Walk Friendly Communities) and Bill Nespar (League of American Bicyclists).

Bring your fun lights and be seen!

Date & Time: Satuday, Feb. 10, from 4:30 to 6 p.m.
Location: west side of the Municipal Building (1777 W. Broadway)

Sunday: Bike to Brunch

Bike to brunch and get a discount or a free extra when you show your helmet!
Date & Time: Sunday, Feb. 11, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. (see map for exact times)
Location: various locations around town (see map)

Sunday: LoBo trail walk 

Join Darcy Kitching from Boulder Walks for a walk on the Longmont to Boulder (LoBO) trail! This trail offers beautiful views of the Front Range and plenty of sunshine, while connecting three Boulder County municipalities: Longmont, Niwot, and Boulder.
You can join her for the full 17 miles or meet at an alternative starting point.
Date & Time: Sunday, Feb. 11 at 9 a.m. (start 17-mile walk)
Location: Longmont Recreation Center (310 Quail Road, Longmont)
