June 2nd is Marni’s last day. She has served as Boulder’s Bike/Ped planner for the last 15 years. Marni leaves Boulder for a 3 year stint in Auckland, New Zealand, implementing a series of large capital projects for bikes
Community Cycles would like to give a big thank you to Marni for all her tireless, hard work over the years. Struggling in the trenches of government is often unsung and underappreciated.
The many projects that Marni’s has spearheaded include: the city’s extensive way-finding signage, numerous Safe Routes to School capital projects, the extensive 2014 TMP update, Winter Bike to Work Day, The Way of the Path, Heads Up, B-cycle, Love to Ride, numerous bike parking projects and an ordinance change for safer racks, and many other infrastructure and outreach we’re sure we are forgetting. Marni has always worked hard to make bicyclists and pedestrians feel safer and equal in our transportation system. She did not win every battle- that is part of what working in a bureaucracy is- but she always worked hard with her heart fully in the right place.
