BOULDER—Community Cycles, coordinator of Boulder Walk & Bike Month, announced today that more than 35 sponsors have pledged over $33,000 to fund Boulder’s Walk &Bike Month activities this June.
Sponsors contribute direct financial support, in kind advertising, bicycle gear, prizes, and services to support the month-long celebration of Boulder’s rich bicycle and pedestrian lifestyle.
The top sponsors for 2019 are GO Boulder, the Daily Camera, Hazel’s Beverage World and Alpine Bank.
Other major contributors include: Twitter Boulder, Colorado Athletic Club, Xilinx and Boulder Transportation Connections, Pivot3, Blue Federal Credit Union, Boulder B-Cycle, Shutkin Sustainable Living, Boulder County, KGNU and Zocalo Community Development.
Mid-level supporters include: CU Environmental Center, WW Reynolds, Conscious Bay Company, Jump Cloud, Terrapin Care Station, Boulder B-cycle and Boulder County.
Additional sponsors include: Better Boulder, People for Bikes, Fox Tuttle Hernandez, Clif Bar, Element Properties, Small Planet E Bikes, Jump Cloud, Corden Pharma, Boulder Chamber, CU Boulder Environmental Center, WW Reynolds, and Terrapin Care Station.
Sponsor funding covers the bulk of Walk & Bike Month expenses, staffing, insurance, promotion and coordination of the 50–plus Walk & Bike Month events scheduled throughout June.
Now in its 43rd year, Boulder’s Walk & Bike Month, presented by GO Boulder, is one of the oldest and largest events of its kind in the nation. What began as a one-day event in 1977 has grown to a month-long celebration. Last year, more than 5,000 people registered for Bike to Work Day alone, and organizers expect an even larger turnout this year for Walk and Bike Month’s main event, which will be held on Wednesday, June 26. Boulder usually has over 60 breakfast stations run by local businesses on Bike to Work Day from 6:30 – 9 am.
Walk & Bike Month 2019 includes a diverse list of events and activities for kids, seniors and families. For a complete list of events or to register for Bike to Work Day, go to www.walkandbikemonth.org. For more information, contact Sue Prant at 303-564- 9681 or sue@communitycycles.org.
