Recently we had a chance to sit down with Director of Community Engagement, Leah Alexis and Senior Loan Officer, Lauren Nygren of Cherry Creek Mortgage in Boulder (formerly Premier Mortgage Group). Cherry Creek Mortgage is a new Community Cycles partner in 2022, and you’ll also find them supporting our fundraiser with Bicycle Film Festival this year. Craig sat down with them to chat about the community, bikes, and why it all matters….
Tell us about Premier’s transition to Cherry Creek and why community is important?
“Premier Mortgage has been based in Boulder since 1986 as a community leader in outreach. Our affiliation with Cherry Creek goes back to 2005,” says Leah. “Because Premier was founded in Boulder over 30 years ago, our commitment to the community is more important now while we go through our name change – we’re still a trusted local lender doing business where our employees live” says Lauren.
“We’ve doubled down on our community focus and invested in a Community Director, Leah! She’s focusing on our nonprofit partnerships and building an educational curriculum around financial literacy. Why does it make sense for Cherry Creek Mortgage in Boulder to partner with a bike-focused non-profit?
“We want to make commuting to work part of our organization’s culture plus provide a resource to our team to engage in their own cycling passions. It’s also a way that our employees engage in the community on their own time, volunteer, and build lasting relationships,” says Leah, as she builds the new community strategy.
Supporting the community you live and work in is critical to supporting our local landscape. Tell us a bit about your non-profit program and the programs Cherry Creek offers?

“WE PROVIDE MORE THAN JUST EXCELLENT SERVICE. For every loan closed with Lauren Nygren at Cherry Creek Mortgage, in partnership with Community Cycles (home purchase, refinance, or reverse mortgage), $500 will be donated to Community Cycles and the borrower will save $500 off their closing costs, OR, the borrower has the option of forgoing their $500 discount and a total of $1000 will be donated to Community Cycles at closing! The Premier Community was created as a more holistic and sustainable way of giving back and partnering with nonprofits; something more than a one-off donation or volunteer opportunity.”
