Production Mechanic
Purpose:
Bicycle Mechanic motivated to quickly and safely refurbish bikes for resales. This is a production position, emphasis is on being able to produce safe, reliable bicycles quickly and efficiently. Must work well with others and have high energy and positive attitude.
Experience:
Extensive mechanic experience with a wide range of bike styles. Knowledge of bike component compatibility is essential. An understanding of predominantly older road bikes, mountain bikes, and hybrids. An ability to quickly recognize unsafe, cracked, and bent frames or parts that should not be built utilized.
Responsibilities:
Highly self motivated individual who can maintain a fast paced energy. This position will involve working on your feet for up to 7 hours per shift as well as working some weekends and/or evenings. Maintaining the shop area where you work and keeping tools in good shape and order. Identifying quality used parts for builds, before using new parts. Refurbishing donated bikes for sale in our shop using used parts and new parts. Assessing bikes for refurbishment, for sale as is, or parts. Work with others to become more efficient, while producing quality and safe bikes. Safety checking bikes built by other mechanics and volunteers to ensure they meet our standards for safety and performance. Serve as spokesperson for the organization. Recognition of the inclusive space where common courtesy is respected and enforced politely.
Reports to: Lead Mechanic
Coordinates with the Lead Mechanic the shop needs: parts, tools, supplies, etc…
Full time (35 hours/week)
