Position Title: Shop Sales Associate
Responsibility Statement
The Shop Sales Associate is a dynamic position that assists in the day-to-day retail sales shop for Community Cycles, Boulder Colorado. The Shop Sales Staff must be in line with the organization’s beliefs and be able to multi-task in this high-energy environment: promoting/encouraging a welcoming environment, providing excellent customer service, monitoring/maintaining a clean and safe environment, managing incoming donations, and donation processing throughout the day. Follow and abide by the rules in the employee handbook
Reports To: Shop Director and Production Manager
Collaborate With: Mechanics, DIY Staff, Admin staff, and volunteer instructors (as they are impacted the shop organization)
Essential Functions
Retail
- Execute opening & closing shop procedures
- Greet and welcome everyone that enters and assist them as needed
- Maintain inventory for refurbished bikes with assistance from the Production Manager
- Maintain appropriate used inventory for sales and production
- Oversee quality control of used parts
- Keep retail space stocked, organized, and clean at all times.
- Maintain and further develop showroom displays, promotions, and marketing efforts
- Work with Production Mechanics to meet target numbers of refurbished bikes for sale
Shop Operations and Management
- Promote a safe, clean, friendly, & cooperative atmosphere at all times
- Assist and maintain offsite storage/inventory
Required Skills and Experience
- Friendly and Enthusiastic about bicycles as transportation
- Self-motivated and able to work independently
- Cash handling and inventory control
- Intermediate or better bike mechanic skills and knowledge
- Bike shop experience preferred
- Understanding of marketing and retail merchandising
- Solid oral and written communication skills
- Valid Driver’s License and comfortable driving a van (possibly a box truck)
Desired Skills and Experience
- Advanced bike mechanics skills
- Deep knowledge of Bicycle history and parts compatibility
- Basic understanding of volunteer coordination
- English/Spanish bilingual
Physical Effort Required
- Regular lifting of 50+ pounds
- Ability to climb ladders and stairs repeatedly
Compensation
The Community Cycles Sales Associate is a part-time, 20-35 hour position at $15-17/hour. Benefits listed here (other).
