Community Cycles is excited to announce that Rachel Friend will join Community Cycles’ staff as Development Director beginning February 1, 2023. Rachel brings a professional background in development and non-profit work, and a passion for improving bicycle safety and access. As an avid e-biker and mother of two recent CU grads and one current CU-Boulder student, Rachel understands our community’s cycling needs from many helpful perspectives.

Many of you may know Rachel through her work as Boulder’s previous Mayor Pro Tem and current City Council member; of course for the pendency of her term which concludes later this year, Rachel will be required to recuse from Council discussions and votes that may intersect with Community Cycles’ work.

“We are  thrilled to welcome Rachel to Community Cycles,” said Executive Director Sue Prant. “Rachel brings a wealth of knowledge about our community and a true appreciation of public service. We look forward to her joining the team.”

Rachel’s work will include targeting new grants and fundraising opportunities and will be reaching out to members of the bicycling community to invite conversations.
