Boulder will celebrate Walk and Bike Month in June 2023, including Bike to Work Day on June 28th.
This year’s theme for Walk and Bike Month is “Joyride”, which captures the feeling of riding a bicycle for the sheer joy of it. Many of us even commute by bicycle to get a little more time on two wheels! The annual schedule of events celebrates walking and cycling in the Boulder area.
“We’re enthusiastic about keeping the momentum of the joy of being outside going in 2023” said Sue Prant, Executive Director of Community Cycles, which coordinates the month-long schedule of festivities. “This year the B360 Bike Ride Around Boulder and the Boulder Bike Show will be their best since the pandemic put a damper on these events.”
Other events of note:
- June 4 – 360: Circle Boulder by Bicycle (Valmont Bike Park)
- June 11 – W360: Slow Marathon Walk Around Boulder (Four Mile Creek Trail Head)
- June 21 – Boulder Bike Show (Upslope Brewery)
- June 28 – Bike to Work Day: more than 50 breakfast stations will serve free food and drink to the estimated 8,000 participants who will ride or walk to work (All around Boulder / Boulder County)
- June 28 – Bike Home Happy Hour with food and beer specials (Boulder Junction)
- Many more events will be added in the upcoming weeks.
It’s About More Than Riding a Bike or Taking a Walk
We all know it’s good for your physical and mental health to get outside, and good for your wallet and the planet to swap a car trip for a bike/walk trip. We encourage you to give it a try this June.
Boulder’s celebration of walking, bicycling, and sustainable transportation is among the largest and longest-running Bike to Work Day events in the nation. This year will continue the tradition of free bike repair classes hosted by Community Cycles. Visit the Walk and Bike Month website for more information.
Community Cycles, a local nonprofit that educates and advocates for safe transportation infrastructure, coordinates events throughout the month, and coordinates breakfast stations on Bike to Work Day.
The 47th annual Walk & Bike Month is supported by the City of Boulder Transportation Department. They focus on enhancing the city’s multi-modal transportation system and reducing single-occupancy vehicle usage. Community Cycles would like to thank the many corporate sponsors who make this Joyride possible, like our Title Sponsor, Google.
