Kids Bike Giveaway Rescheduled for April 2021

BikeNonProfitNews

Here we go again! Community Cycles has announced the rescheduled dates for their Kids Bike Giveaway: April 10th and April 17th 2021. The event was postponed from the traditional December dates due to COVID.

The April dates are just in time to get 300+ kids on bikes for Boulder Valley School District’s Bike to School Day!

Registration is currently open to families who registered in for the event in December. Please check our Facebook Page Event to stay up to date on possible openings for appointments.

Why do we do this? We think every child in our community should have a bicycle. For the freedom and doors of opportunity it opens, the healthy outdoor exercise. And for the joy of riding a bicycle.

Donate now towards keeping this program going for Community Cycles. Your $35 donation will help gift a bicycle to a child in our community.

Our Kids Bike Giveaway is a community event from beginning to end. Throughout the year, Community Cycles takes in hundreds of kids’ bikes from community donations. During the fall season, volunteer mechanics donate their time preparing bikes for the December event. In a “normal” year, a hundred volunteers and staff would come together on the day of the event to distribute 300+ bikes. This year, we’re mindful of the density of people gathering. Fewer staff and volunteers will be on hand because the event is spread out over 2 consecutive Saturdays.

We couldn’t do this without donations, volunteers in our community and our event sponsors: Boulder Community Health, Boulder Neurosurgical and Spine Associates, Spin, Walnut Cafe, and the Kirk “Rocky” Derichsweiler Foundation!
