Don't have the time or the fitness level to do your whole commute by bike?
- Drive to a Park N Ride and ride the rest of the way in.
- Ride in to work, then put your bike on the bus for the way home.
Need to drive kids to school daycare before work? Park at school/daycare and ride to work from there.
What you need for a comfortable commute by bike
Lock Your Bike
Use a good lock:
- Use a high quality U-lock, chain lock or folding lock. Diamond or Gold rated or ceramic-infused is the highest rating and most secure, though the most expensive.
- A lower rated lock can serve you just as well depending on where you are locking your bike.
- Don't use a cheap lock (like a cable lock)- they are easy to cut.
How do I securely lock my bike?
- Make sure the bike rack is firmly secured in the ground.
- Use a U-lock to secure the frame and one of the wheels to a bike rack.
- Use a 2nd U-lock to secure the other wheel to the frame or the rack.
What is secure bike parking?
- Visible, populated, well-lit areas.
- Inside work, home, garage, yard or car rack.
- Ask your employer for the best place to park and lock your bike inside of their business.
Stealing is an opportunistic crime.
- Keep your bike as secure as possible.
- If you’re unsure how secure your bike will be, take easily removed parts with you (lights, pump, bags, seat post/saddle)
- Replace your quick release front wheel set up with one that attaches with a bolt.
