Boulder Kids Declare: Cycling Summer Camp Was a Success

BikeNonProfitNews

Our third year of Community Cycles Summer Camp was a huge success! With a total of 24 cyclists in two weeks, we have come a long way from our first year’s single session of 4 kids.

This year brought new bike games, mechanics skills, fun rides and our first-ever field trip to Mosaic Cycles to check out their handmade bike manufacturing process.

It was a blast to watch bike campers learn to care for and maintain their bikes and become safe commuters on our daily rides throughout Boulder’s many multi-use paths. Our older students learned comprehensive bicycle mechanic skills – some have even started their own neighborhood bike repair businesses and gotten jobs in bike shops!

Thanks to all of our staff, and ride and shop volunteers who made this year even better than the last! Our stellar volunteers & staff helped the kids with their bike maintenance skills and rode along on every ride to ensure safety and have some fun themselves.

Looking ahead

We are looking forward to having our own building in 2018, where we will have a better and larger space to serve the kids of Boulder. Our cycling camp has always been one of the most affordable in Boulder and we anticipate being able maintain reasonable prices while offering expanded bike summer camps, maintenance classes and rides geared towards our future cycling commuters and building a lifelong love of bikes.
