🚲 Commute With Us By Bike!
Discover the Joy of Riding in Boulder County

Commuting by bike is for everyone, not just for dedicated cyclists. Across Boulder County, more people are discovering that biking and e-biking can be a practical, affordable, and enjoyable way to get to work, school, errands, and everyday destinations. ☀️

At Community Cycles, the goal is simple: make biking a realistic transportation option for more people. We are doing this by hosting weekly group rides every Wednesday starting on June 3rd. Our Commuter Hub provides resources, tips, and encouragement for riders of all experience levels — whether someone is considering their very first commute or already rides regularly. 🚴‍♀️💨

🌟 Why Bike Commuting Is Growing

More commuters are turning to bikes and e-bikes because they solve several everyday transportation challenges at once. Riding can help you:

  • 💸 Save money on gas, parking, and vehicle maintenance
  • 🚗 Reduce your stress from traffic congestion
  • 💪 Improve physical and mental health
  • 🌱 Lower carbon emissions and improve air quality
  • ☀️ Add movement and fresh air into the workday

E-bikes, in particular, are making longer commutes and hilly terrain more accessible. Riders can travel farther distances without arriving exhausted, making commuting by bike realistic for many more people than ever before. ⚡🚲

Recent Community Cycles surveys found that many Boulder County e-bike riders are replacing car trips regularly, with a significant number using e-bikes for commuting, errands, and social trips. Some riders reported commuting more than 12 miles each way.

🛤️ Boulder County Is Built for Riding

One of the biggest advantages of commuting by bike in Boulder County is the growing network of paths, bike lanes, and regional connections between communities such as Boulder, Louisville, Longmont, Erie, and Broomfield.

The Highway 36 bike path and the upcoming Highway 119 (the Diagonal) bike paths are long stretches made for bike commuters, with few roads to cross with traffic, making them part of a ‘low stress’ network.

Safe routes, multi-use paths, and community support are helping more residents see biking as a transportation choice — not just recreation. 🚴‍♂️

🤝 Community Cycles and DRCOG Partnership

Brought to you by Community Cycles. We recently received funding through the Denver Regional Council of Governments (DRCOG) to encourage more people to commute by bike and e-bike throughout Boulder County.

The project focuses on reducing traffic congestion, vehicle emissions, and fuel consumption while helping residents discover practical alternatives to driving. 🌍🚲

This initiative includes education, outreach, commuter resources, and community engagement designed to help you feel more confident trying bike commuting for the first time. You can find these resources on our Commuter Hub page.
